Steve and Teryn chose the Altadena Country Club for their day of celebration on April 1, 2017

When planning a wedding, it is important that the couple be aware of their parent’s wishes and try to accommodate them if they can, but ultimately the decisions about the ceremony are up to the bride and groom. Steve and Teryn chose the Altadena Country Club for their day of celebration on April 1, 2017.  Being an interfaith couple, Teryn, requested the pastor of her family’s church to co-officiate with Rabbi Barry.  Having never performed an interfaith ceremony, Pastor Jean was open to suggestions that would make this event all-inclusive.  However, at the last minute, Steve’s mother requested that the pastor not use certain Christian expressions as she felt they might offend their Jewish guests.  Pastor Jean was willing to honor her request, however, Steve and Teryn insisted that he use the language of his faith and to be himself. The ceremony was sweet and the pastor was sensitive to all involved. Though planning a wedding takes a village, planning a ceremony is between the bride, groom and officiant(s).
