The Story Behind Great Officiants
It Started With a Best Friend and a Better Ceremony
Let me take you back to my earlier days attending friends' weddings. Too often, the ceremony felt like the part everyone had to sit through before the celebration could begin. The same delivery. The same words. The same voice that could make a cup of coffee fall asleep.
I kept thinking: Why can't the ceremony be one of the best parts of the wedding?
Fast forward to 2003, when my best friend was getting married. I was supposed to be his best man. As we talked about the wedding, we realized we shared the same dread of a forgettable, monotone ceremony.
Since I was the professional actor in our circle of friends, we decided I should take on a different role: the wedding officiant. I would rewrite the playbook and create something personal, entertaining, and heartfelt.
And that is exactly what happened. Afterward, guests told me it was the best wedding ceremony they had ever seen. My friends said I had found my calling. What began as a favor for my best friend became the beginning of Great Officiants.
Starting the Business: Turning a Calling Into Great Officiants
That first wedding gave me a direction: create ceremonies that make people feel something. Bring the laughter, the romance, the personal details, and the moments that remind everyone why they are there.
As Great Officiants grew, I assembled a team of professionals with different personalities, backgrounds, languages, and specialties. The goal was to give couples meaningful choices and help them find an officiant who understands their vision.

Not every couple wants a large wedding. Sometimes, the dream is a welcoming space, a meaningful ceremony, and a few favorite people.
Our Cute Little Wedding Chapel in Long Beach gives couples a place to celebrate an intimate wedding, with an indoor chapel and an outdoor tropical terrace.
It brings the same personal approach to a smaller celebration. A little wedding can still be a very big moment.

Southern California's coastline offers a beautiful setting for exchanging vows. Through SoCal Beach Weddings, we expanded our services to help couples celebrate by the ocean.
From simple beach elopements to full ceremony setups, couples can explore options suited to their guest count, location, and style.
