Interfaith Chaplain
Why do couples hire Chaplain Mitzi Schwarz as their Wedding Celebrant? The answers are simple!
First and foremost, couples describe Mitzi as “ecumenically correct”. That’s because all who meet Mitzi know that she utterly believes that there is no “one” path of how people “should” live their most authentic, joy-filled life. Mitzi is equally comfortable serving as a Celebrant for Jewish couples, as well as those couples who are Interfaith, Spiritual-but-not-Religious, and/or Humanist.
The second reason that couples hire Mitzi as their Wedding Celebrant is because she brings over 20 years of experience, training, passion, and joy to every couple she serves. After all, can you imagine a more joyful and meaningful calling than bringing two people together in marriage?
Another reason folks love tying the knot with Chaplain Mitzi as their Celebrant is because she’s not just a Celebrant; she’s also a professionally trained, working singer and Cantor. When you hire Chaplain Mitzi, you’re getting a Celebrant who knows how to use her voice to hold your guests in rapt attention, so that their focus is 100% on you! And she can croon (or belt, if you prefer) your favorite love song to you, while you’re holding hands, hearts locked together, gazing into each other’s eyes. It’s magical.
You and Chaplain Mitzi will explore what rituals are important and meaningful for you to include in your wedding ceremony. Some couples love to draw from their family-of-origin traditions, while others are excited to create their own, never-before-done rituals that they present on their wedding day. Still others are happy with special readings and poetry. Every wedding ceremony is unique, and Chaplain Mitzi loves celebrating couples exactly as they are.
Before Mitzi became a Wedding Celebrant, she was a Certified and Licensed Massage Therapist. Also, Mitzi served as a Chaplain at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, CA, as well as at Skirball Hospice and Palliative Care. She has served as a Cantorial Soloist since 2000 and does so to this day, currently at the Jewish Community of Ojai. Moreover, she has performed as a Guest Soloist for Universalist-Unitarian, Unity, and Centers for Spiritual Living congregations since the late 1990’s.
As one couple wrote on The Knot: “Mitzi brought her INCREDIBLE voice and musicianship, beautiful energy, and wonderful charisma to bear on our ceremony to help make it so meaningful. She spent lots of time with us beforehand discussing our wants and needs, helping us home in on the perfect ceremony. She was perfectly and equally willing to take center stage or a backseat, depending on what made us comfortable and what fit our ceremony style.”
