Father Jacob

fatherjacob

In addition to his work in spiritual direction, pastoral counseling, social justice, and sacramental ministry, Father Jacob is currently completing graduate level studies in Marriage and Family Therapy, or as he calls it: The art, science, and spirit of love.

He interested in the intersection of spirituality and psychology--particularly how God speaks to us through our emotions. Father Jacob has a progressive theology and focuses his ministry on those who have been hurt or rejected by the institutional church.

As an American Catholic priest with full ministerial faculties and in good standing, he feels blessed to administer the sacraments and spiritual direction to those unwelcome in the Roman Catholic Church because they are divorced, LGBT, in cohabitant relationships, or have progressive theologies or politics.

Father Jacob is a native English speaker and also speaks fluent Portuguese and some Spanish because of the time he spent on mission and studying in Latin America. He is currently the Vicar for Social Justice of the American Orthodox Catholic Church which grants his ministerial faculties.
Father Jacob attended Gonzaga University, the Graduate Theological Union, and John F. Kennedy University.

He is based in San Diego.

Five stars for Father Jacob!! He was wonderful to work with. He was flexible and accommodating. He worked with my husband and I to create a ceremony that honored my catholic religion, while also allowing us to incorporate our personalities into the ceremony. Our guests are still talking about how lovely our ceremony was. I would recommend Father Jacob to anyone who is looking to incorporate catholic traditions into their ceremony.
