Deacon Gary

Deacon Gary is one of our associate Priests who work with us. The donation to their church starts at $775

Deacon Gary is a California native, graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a serious baseball player and received an invitation to tryouts with the Dodger organization. Military service interrupted his ambition in sports and he served in Vietnam with the Marine Corps.

After his military service he continued serving the local community in the Sheriff's Department and retired as a detective having received two medals for bravery.
Gary and his wife began attending Good Shepherd Church in 2001 because of the family atmosphere within the church and the enthusiasm they felt from the clergy.

Continuing his call to service, Gary was ordained a Permanent Deacon and celebrates many weddings. In addition to Eucharistic and Liturgical participation, preaching on a regular basis, and celebrating weddings, Deacon Gary performs many of the administrative and strategic functions that allow our Wedding Ministry outreach to flourish.

For those of you who dream of a Catholic wedding that is sacred but not stuffy, we can help you make this dream a reality. When the priests who are among our group of officiants are not available, we can refer couples to parish priests, each with a sense of humor and a great personality who can celebrate your Catholic wedding at the location of your choice.

He is based in Lakewood.

Thank you....Thank you....Thank you!
I was having my wedding inside Sequoia National Park. Thank God for Deacon Gary's big heart and willingness to help us getting married in the forest with a Catholic ceremony. Great officiants takes the sacrament of marriage very seriously as we do and so we met with and talked to Deacon Gary several times before the big day and even went through a pre-marital counseling session. I was very pleased with the professional services overall. Deacon Gary did amazingly with the ceremony and even incorporated some Spanish into the welcoming so some of our guests would understand. We will always carry with us the beautiful memories of our wedding and we owe it all to Deacon Gary Alley who made our ceremony so beautiful. May God Bless him always!
